Ashes and Airports

Hi Everyone, its Alastair here again today. There's been a slight delay in getting this blog post done as we couldn't get on to the website for some reason. Anyway, all seems sorted now, thank goodness, cause there's so much to tell you. Firstly.... WE WENT TO THE FIRST DAY OF THE ASHES!!!!!! So exciting. It was all very last minute, we didn't even try to buy tickets until the morning of the game but we got great seats at the Gabba. I was supporting Australia. It was good but very different to the cricket I am used to which is the BIG BASH! Its sooooo much slower and they don't play in the rain too! Mum and Gracie went to Townsville this weekend to see Susan and Family. That just left the boys at home to fend for themselves. On Saturday Dad, Ewie and I all went for a short run to get the paper with Caley-dog. Ewan was in the pram and he loved it. I did a bit of the pushing, which was better than having to run with Caley as she is just trouble when she

Hi Everyone, its Alastair here, the original blogger! Another big week in our house to tell you all about. Last weekend we had our Little Athletics carnival. We competed for the Mt Gravatt Little Athletics Team against clubs from the South-East Brisbane area. It was an all-day event starting at 7.30am. Gracie and I both did 5 events, from shot putt to long jump and relay races too. It was at the State Athletics stadium. We were pretty tired by the end of the day but its was good fun. Here's Gracie nailing the long jump.... Here is my attempt... And Gracie putting the shot.... Ewan had a big week this week too as he turned 3. This seems to the first birthday he has had where he has known whats coming and was REALLY excited about it. He got books, trucks, trains and much more. All his favourite things. He had a doubley exciting week as dad took him on a trip on the bus to the shops too. Ewan LOVES buses. All in all another exciting week. Its not lo

Hi Everyone, Its all of us this time, Ally, Gracie and Ewan. Bonus!!!!!!!! We have all had such a big week that it takes all 3 of us to tell you about it. Alastair is going to start... This week I had my school music concert. I sang in the choir and I played a couple of songs as part of the senior strings group. I play the cello. Mum and Dad were so impressed with the cello playing - they said it was such a huge improvement on last year and sounded really good. Gracie is up next...... Hi All, I had my end of year dancing show this weekend. It was a huge day. I had to do 2 performances, one at lunchtime and one in the evening. I did 2 dances at each show, 1 jazz and 1 ballet. I dont have any pics of the show (we weren't allowed to take them during the show) but Dad did take one of me with my make up on. Alastair, Ewan, Daddy, Mum and mums cousin Anne all came to watch my concert. Hi Its Ewie here now. On Friday I went with daddy to get some more food for o

Hi Everyone, Its me, Gracie. Your favourite blogger-girl! We have had another busy week. On Saturday we finally got back to Little Athletics for the first time in ages. We have had so much on lately (mainly birthday parties) that we hadnt been for weeks. It was really great to get back there. I got my certificate for my 4 personal bests (PBs)that I got the last time I was there and I managed to get another 3 PBs on Saturday too. On Sunday we joined Alastairs friend Oscar's family for a walk through Toohey Forest. It was really hot and little Ewan took his scooter along. Tonight was Halloween and we dressed up and went out with friends of mine from around the corner. I was a witch and Alastair was Harry Potter (again). Ewan didn't get to go as he is in Warwick with mummy visiting Nana in hospital. Well that's it from me for now. We will be back with more next week. I have my big dancing show this weekend so hopefully we will have some pics to sho

Hi Everyone, its Ewan here today. I just wanted to share with you a photo of Gracie's birthday cake. She turned 7 on Saturday. She is sooooo BIG! Anyway, we all sang happy birthday and I (as usual) put my fingers in my ears as I don't like loud things. There really isn't any other news because its been soooo wet that we haven't been able to do anything. Everything has been cancelled. Luckily it was brighter today and it was hot too. Bye for now. Hi Everyone, Alistair here with an update on the week - and its only Sunday morning, so its not over yet. 2 big things happened this week. Firstly it was my 11th birthday but I wasn't at home for it because of the 2nd big thing to happen this week.... School Camp! I got some pretty cool things for my birthday this year including a new scooter, some football goals for the garden, some new running clothes and some $$$$! The plan is to go and play crazy golf with my friends today but its pouring down so we will probably just go to Skyzone or something instead. On Wednesday year 5 at school set off for Mapleton, a couple of hours north of Brisbane for 2 nights on camp. I got to share a cabin with my good friends Oscar and Caleb. Oscars sister Genevieve decided to photobomb our picture as we were about to leave. We didn't actually camp, we stayed in small cabins. We got to heaps of exciting activities such as canoeing and rope slides. We travelled in a bus. My little

Back to Life, Back to Reality

Hi Folks. Its Alastair here today. Just wanted to give you a brief update on whats been going on this week. On Tuesday night we said goodbye to Granny as she flew back to Scotland. We have had a great 3 weeks with her here and cant wait for her to come again. Tuesday was also our first day back at school after the  2 weeks of holidays (Booooooo)! So it really is a case of being back to normal again here. This weekend I went for a run with Dad - its great that his knee seems to be better and he is back running again. Caley-Dog is really pleased about this too. On Sunday morning we were all dragged along to Ikea as Mum and Dad wanted to get some new dining chairs. They say that us kids have ruined all the ones we had but other than a few food stains  they looked fine for me. Ikea was exciting for the first 20 minutes but then we had to try and entertain ourselves. A bit of clambering on the shelves in the warehouse did the job. In the afternoon Dad and I went for a b

Fame at last - We made the Warwick Daily News!

Hi Everyone, Its Gracie-Girl here again today. We have had a busy old week. We have been doing all sorts of stuff with Granny such as learning to knit, walking through the woods, swimming (but not Granny) and crosswords. Its been a really hot week - up to 36 degrees so swimming has been good! We all crammed into the car and went to Warwick on Friday night. This is where Nana (our other Granny) lives. It was a tight squeeze in the car but we have a 7-seater so we are really quite lucky. We also took Caley-dog with us. There was a Volkswagen Beetle car display in Warwick on Saturday Morning which Dad, Ewie and I had a quick look at. Whilst we were there a lady from the local paper - the world famous Warwick Daily News took our photo and it was up on their website later that weekend.  Link to pic Here's a screenshot: Before I go I must show you this funny pic of Caley and dad in the back of the car. I am not sure who looks more scared? Bye for now. Gracie

The week that was....

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii everyone, Its Gracie here....... We have had a great week. We have spent a LOT of time with Granny, I am sure she's probably sick of all 3 of us by now. Mum and Dad worked as usual this week and Granny did the school holiday child-minding. This is a VERY hot weekend, it feels like summer, not spring. Its forecast to get up to 35 degrees, whatever that means. Today (to avoid the heat) we headed down the coast to the beach very early. It was so quiet on the beach and we had a great time walking down the beach, playing in the water and climbing on the rocks. Late this afternoon we all went for a walk in Toohey Forest with Granny and Daddy so that mum could get some work done. We saw some huge lizards on the walk, you can see one on the tree on the photo below. Who knows what adventures tomorrow will bring! Bye for now. Gracie-girl

GRANNY'S HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Everyone, Great News! Granny has arrived in Oz. All the way from Scotland for 3 weeks! And the school holidays have just started too, talk about good timing! We (Gracie and Alastair) went to the airport with Dad at 1 o'çlock in the morning on Tuesday night to pick Granny up.We had been monitoring her trip all the way from Scotland using the website www.flightaware.com and we set off from home just as we knew the plane was coming into Brisbane.  It was great because the airport was sooooo quiet at that time of night. Granny got through customs really quickly so we were all home and back into our beds by 2am. We had school on the Wednesday so were pretty tired all day. Granny bought us all some great presents from Scotland. Our holidays began on Friday. We aren't going away but will do some day trip with Granny instead, probably to the beach a few times. On Saturday we all went for a walk up Mt Gravatt. Granny always like to go up there at least once when she is h

Little Athletics

Hi All, There's a thing in Australia called Little Athletics. Its been around for years and years, in fact so long that even Mum used to take part in Little A's and she's ancient! Anyway, Gracie and I go to Mt Gravatt Little A's every Saturday. We get to take part in all sorts of athletics events such running, hurdles, shot putt, discuss, triple jump etc etc. As you get older you get to do more events. Gracie currently doesn't get to do triple jump or any running races further than 200m. When he is older Ewan will get to join too but the youngest group is under 6's. He has a while to wait. Anyway, last night we weren't at the usual sports field but were at the Queensland Athletics Stadium. It was only the warm up track but was pretty cool anyway. Ewan actually came with us and had a little go at long jump and running round the newly laid blue track. He loved it. It was very windy so pretty cold but he didnt seem to mind and soon had his socks

Fathers Day and Running FAST!

Image
Hey everyone - its Gracie here. Just a quick post to give you update of the last few days. Sunday was pretty exciting....It was Fathers Day here in Oz. Daddy was sooooo lucky. We got him all sorts of exciting gifts like socks and key-rings and chocolates and we all had pancakes for breakfast! In the afternoon we all went to Wellington Point beach for a walk and had ice cream. Life really doesn't get any better! I think Daddy was particularly pleased with this fathers day as he needed cheering up. He's been really grumpy recently as he is unable to run. He has a knee injury apparently so is having a few weeks off to recover. We all cant wait for him to start running again so we can get some peace! Its a normal school week this week (boooooooo) but today we had cross-country running. I came 12th and I am going to leave Alastair to tell you about his race...... Hi, Ally-Boo here. Yes, I had my cross country running race today too. I have been doing a fair bit of runni

Just Scooting Around!

Hi All, Its Ewan here. I am very excited about writing my first post to this blog. Alastair and Gracie have told me all about it. At first I thought it was just a myth as I had never seen anything actually happen with this blog in my lifetime but now that it appears to be up and running again I can see that it truly is pretty amazing! I love looking at the pictures of my brother and sister when they were younger. Anyway, my reason for posting is to tell you about my first Scooter that I got this week. It seems its been a week of firsts....first blog post, first scooter! Its pretty cool and I LOVE it. I cant go very quickly yet which seems to be frustrating mum and dad a bit but I will get the hang of it eventually. Bye for now Ewie
